Post graduate work permit

The PGWP is an open work permit that allows international graduates to work for any employer in Canada. This is to allow international graduates to get professional job experience in Canada after they complete their studies from a designated learning institute in Canada. This program further facilitates the international graduates to qualify for their Permanent Residency in Canada by gaining work experience.

PGWP’s Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit, international students must have:

Completed studies in an academic, vocational or professional training program that is at least eight months long at an eligible Designated Learning Institution (DLI) List leading to a degree, diploma or certificate.
Should have held a full-time student status in Canada during every academic session of the program or programs of study completed and included as part of their post-graduation work permit application.
Received a transcript and an official completion letter from the eligible DLI.

This program has however seen many changes specially during the Coronavirus pandemic and many otherwise ineligible candidates are also eligible for their PGWP who started their education in 2020.
